Most out of Book/App

Here are some helps for teaching folks very new to oils how to find the oil and application techniques that may work for them using the Essentials of the Earth book and/or the EoEbooks App.

The Essentials of the Earth book

  • Help them see how information is organized.
    • All items, Health Concerns, Oils, Blends and Products are arranged in one alphabetical list like an encyclopedia.
  • Go to a Health Concern and see how to get the most help from these pages. Maybe use “Headache” as an example.
    • The oils most highly recommended are at the top and then there are “other oils” recommended at the bottom. Each oil is color coded:
      • Green is Preferred or frequently suggested
      • Yellow is Suggested as an alternative or a supplemental oil
      • Red is Considered or also mentioned or noted as successful for some
    • (There is an explanation of how these recommendations were reached on pages 31-35 of the book)
    • After the list of highly recommended oils is a paragraph(s) describing ways to apply the oils. This often will include (as with Headaches) a number of different alternatives based on age, severity or other parameters.
    • Also in the blue heading at the top of the Health Concern might be a “see also” reference to another Health Concern that might add more helpful information.
  • On some Health Concerns there will be cautionary information but it might be appropriate to reference your folks to the Safety Considerations starting at page 19 of the book and summarized in the Safety Charts on pages 23 – 30.
  • At his point it may be helpful to point out, if your folks would like more information on a particular Oil, Blend or Product, they can look it up in the alphabetical sequence for that additional information.
  • Also sometimes there are terms that experienced folks use that might be new or confusing to the less experienced. Terms like “Neat” or “Skin Test” or “Carrier Oil”. The definition of terms like these are also listed in the Alphabetical sequence in the book.

Following this help why not introduce them to the process of ordering the oils they have found and the steps they can go through to get the best quality and the best value.

The EoEbooks App

The App is a little different format than the book although the information is basically the same. Because the App is not limited in page count we can include a lot more information. With each Health Concern there is an opening page that gives a description of the Health Concern in layman language. Plus we are able to add the experiences of others on many of the Health Concerns. Here are some steps to help others get the most out of using the EoEbooks App:

  • Help them see how information is organized. Health Concerns, Oils, Blends and Products each have their own page selected with one of the icons below on the opening page of the App.
  • Go to a Health Concern and see how to get the most help from these pages. Maybe use “Headache” as an example.
  • From the opening screen select the Health Concern icon. The firstpage that opens is the Description page, This gives an overview of the Health Concern in layman language. There are 3 pages associated with each Health Concern. The Description, Protocol, Experiences & Questions/Answers plus the Share button to the far right (if you have that option). These are chosen with the icons at the bottom of the page and are shown below.
  • To move from the opening Description page to the Protocol page where the recommended oils are listed simply select the eyedropper icon
    • All the oils recommended are at the top of the Health Concern information and are color coded using the same code as the book:
      • Green is Preferred or frequently suggested
      • Yellow is Suggested as an alternative or a supplemental oil
      • Red is Considered or also mentioned or noted as successful for some
    • (There is an explanation of how these recommendations were reached on the About page in the App.)
    • After the list of recommended oils is a paragraph(s) describing ways to apply the oils. This often will include (as with Headaches) a number of different alternatives based on age, severity or other parameters.
    • Also at the top right of the page there might be a “See Also” reference to another Health Concern that might add more helpful information. Press on the See Also to get to links to the other relevant Health Concerns.
  • On some Health Concerns there will be cautionary information but it might be appropriate to reference your folks to the Safety with oils” icon on the opening page of the App.
  • At his point it may be helpful to point out, if your folks would like more information on a particular Oil, Blend or Product, they can look it up by again going to the appropriate icon on the opening page.
  • Also sometimes there are terms that experienced folks use that might be new or confusing to the less experienced. Terms like “Neat” or “Skin Test” or “Carrier Oil”. The definition of terms like these are also available by going to the Glossary icon on the opening page.

Finally following this help with using the App why not introduce folks to the process of ordering the oils they have found helpful and give them the steps they can go through to get the best quality and the best value.
